Hi!

I meet Ged at World Economic Forum annual meeting in January 2006, where I was invited to participate as an expert in Design strategy.

The reason for the invitation was that WEF had defined five sub themes defining five critical challenges to the world community:

- The emergence of China and India,
- The changing economic landscape,
- Adjusting to new mindsets and changing attitudes,
- The creation of future jobs,
- Addressing regional identities and struggles.

The following three sub themes on the other hand highlight how business
and institutions must respond.

- Building trust in public and private institutions
- Effective leadership in managing global risks
- Finding solutions through innovation, creativity and design methods.

Ged from World Economic Forum (motto: improving the state of the world) and I from INDEX: (motto: design to Improve Life) hit it off due to our mutual interest in finding better solutions, which lead to an invitation from INDEX: to Ged to join INDEX: international jury.

Ged is now part of our jury that recently meet in Copenhagen.
Our jury is responsible for selecting the 100 top nominations and the final five winners among the many, many nominations from the whole world sent to INDEX: Award. The objective of the selection is to present a coherent image of the commercial and human potential in contemporary Design to Improve Life.

Further more our jurors are the professional design advisers who assist us in developing the programme of INDEX: 2007. The programme will comprise:

INDEX: Award: The world’s biggest design award worth €500.000 to be presented August 24th 2007 at Copenhagen City Hall.

INDEX: AWARD EXHIBITION
100 top nominated designs for INDEX: Award to be exhibited outdoors in central Copenhagen and touring for Austraila, USA and Europa.

INDEX: SUMMIT
Where 40 of the world’s leading experts in User-centred design and innovation meets in Copenhagen to discuss the future potential in in-depth in-sight in tacit and explicit needs of users.

INDEX: SUMMER CAMP
Students from all over the world are invited Copenhagen to create new Designs to Improve Life.

INDEX: NETWORK SERIES
Where our Danish network interact with the summit participants.
